genus: HEGEMUS  White 1845
species: pluto  Raffray 1880
origin: western Ethiopia, lgt. P.Malec (4/2002)
wild imago size: 35-55 mm
sexual dimorphism: males with horns on clypeus

This rare genus is really uncommon in breeding, but I suppose it widely occurs in eastern parts of Ethiopia. Not very colourful cetonid remind genus Fornasinius or Argyrophegges and also breeding is, unfortunatelly, similar and very difficult.

As you can see from this image, reproduction is possible, however the size of adult under my best care was very poor. Second photo demonstrates the success of japanesse breeders.
