sexual dimorphism: males with small single horn
note: Beetle reminding genus Cyphonisthes, but with different captive breeding habits. Rhizoplatys, resp. Rhizoplatodes do not require any diapausis and undergo metamorphosis within a protective cells like other Dynastidae, while Cyphonisthes build solid cocoons and need about half year diapausis. Lifecycle is very short, about 3-4months.
