species: didymus (Linnaeus, 1758)
origin: Iquitos, Peru
wild imago size: 30-45 mm
note: lifecycle must be very short, however oviposition seems to be a problem. Adults ignore rotten fruit and rather accept tinned dog or cat food. It is known that this genus is predacious and widely cannibalistic.
species: quadrimaculatus Waterhouse, 1881
wild imago size: 35-45 mm
note: I wasn´t very successful breeding this beautiful species, as usual oviposition was the "terminal station", raising larvae is not too difficult
